A New Project

I have now become a "dumpster diver."  Well, not necessarily diving, but my husband did pick up a really cute bookshelf off the curb last night.  I immediately knew that it could be fixed up and didn't deserve to be tossed away to end up lonely in a land fill ~ LOL!  Here is a picture of it before I disassembled it.

It is one of those dollhouse bookshelves from Target that originally cost $79.99.  Yay for Mister David; it was free for me!  With a little creativity, it is going to be even cuter than when it was new!  Of course, I couldn't wait to get started...so here are some pictures of what I have done so far:

The house has gone from pink and white to celery green, black and white.  I washed everything down to remove dirt and dust, then started spray painting (I used Krylon brand.)  When the attic back wall dried, I stamped a chandelier on it with black acrylic paint.  I got the stamp at Hobby Lobby for $0.99.

After I stamped the chandelier, I decided it needed a little sparkle.  I used E6000 glue to adhere the jewels to the board, and the coolest thing happened - the mirrored back of the jewel crackled and sparkles even more than it did before!

Will post the finished project tomorrow!

Pin-spiration #2

Pinterest is keeping me so busy, and I LOVE it!!  I loved this cute wall hanging, so I immediately went to Hobby Lobby and picked up some wooden hearts (0.99 ea), painted them with acrylic paint and stapled them to a piece of pink ribbon that I already had.  So for less than $5.00, I have a new little Valentine piece that I love :)

Valentine's Day Wreath

I am so excited for Valentine's Day!  We don't have very much in the way of decor, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE pink and doilies and all of the other pretties related to this fun holiday!  So when I was surfing Pinterest, I found a beautiful wreath at She's {kinda} Crafty, and just had to try to make one for myself.  Here is the fruit of my labor...

It was relatively easy, just time consuming - took about 4 hours from start to finish.  I love the way it turned out though :)  I followed the directions provided on this fabulous website ~ tatertots & jello.  Time for the football game, Go Texans!!

Have a blessed day!

Valentine's Day

I know it's early, but I have the Valentine's Day bug!  Seeing all of the pink and red frilly things at Hobby Lobby just made me want to go home and make something.  I don't really decorate for Valentine's day, except for the kid's breakfast, but I thought a nice little picture to go in place of one of the Christmas decorations on the wall might be nice.  So here is my little piece of art...

The word Valentine is outlined in lime glitter.  It doesn't show up very well in the pictures, but  it looks really sparkly in person!  I need a new camera pretty bad, maybe one day :)

Pin-spiration!

Thank you Pinterest for all of the inspiration that you provide!  I thought that I would post a few of the things that I have completed since discovering Pinterest.

~ 1 ~

First, I reorganized my food pantry...

Such common sense ideas that I didn't even think about until I saw her picture on Pinterest!

~ 2 ~

Next, I reorganized my medicine cabinet.  This was the best idea so far!  With all 4 family members taking a variety of medicines for allergies, etc., we had medicine falling out of the cabinet when we would look for what we needed.

Yay!!  Things don't fall out anymore!  The little totes are from Target.  I even took it a bit further and toted up everything under the bathroom cabinet in larger totes like this.  That way in the mornings when I get dressed, I just pull out the tote and put it back when I am done.  No more mess sitting on top of the counter!

~ No. 3 ~

I saw this really cute little frame converted into a dry erase board.  So one day when I was antiquing, I found this adorable little vintage card and immediately knew what it was meant for...

All done, and now it hangs on the wall in my work room with all of my New Year's Resolutions written on it!

~ 4 ~

I gave these away for Christmas gifts to my sisters and mother.  Two plates from the dollar store and candle sticks from Walmart - total $10.00.  I wrote the song Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on the rims using a porcelain marker.  I took ideas from 2 different pins to make these (decorated plates and cake stand).  The cute little North Pole cupcakes idea also came from Pinterest.  I made these Gluten-free for my momma.

~ 5 ~

Also whipped up a starlight mint tray.  This was way to easy and really cute on the dessert table for my family Christmas party!  (Instructions for the mint tray.)

Found the little Pretzel/Rolo/M&M treats on Pinterest too!

Well, this is a long enough post for now.  Will post more as I try the different things I find.

Hugs,
Deanna
